" Black women are built of hope and belief, and it is a belief that extends beyond the constraints of a space, a system, or centuries of sacrifice."
DUPLESSIS ART is honored to present the latest series from founder, Chloé Duplessis.
Backstitching Beauty is a collection of digital collage works inspired by the unwavering determination of women connected to the African diaspora.
Each work of art represents female elders from the matrilineal and patrilineal lines of Duplessis' ancestry - dating back over 200 years.
The colors, composition and textures presented were chosen to center the millions of women linked to the transatlantic slave trade; and to celebrate the extraordinary contributions of those that birthed our very existence.
Backstitching Beauty opened on September 1 and runs through October 1, 2022.
All works are available for purchase.
